They are COUNTING on the recipient putting it through their OWN bank, although, come to think of it, that is a LOT of $$ for them to spend on a random asset search. Are you SURE there was no explanation, nothing on the check front or back to limit your use- such as an endorsement clausen the back "for deposit only to the account of --- "

Of course, if you didn't want to give it to charity, you could sign it over to the campaign of whomever you are supporting for Congress.
