My daughter is deep trouble financially. She does not live at home, but we have been getting a lot of calls for her from CA's. We tell them she doesn't live there, but they keep calling back. In Dec, Brian Winters of Daniels & Norelli called, he openly discussed her financial situation with me and read entries from her credit report to me; however he did not tell me which accounts he was calling about. I think he was fishing for info. She contacted them and was told they wanted to set up a payment schedule and discussed a monthly payment amount, but not when the payments would begin or how many would be required. Mr. Winters stated they would not charge her interest. 2 days later, she called them to request proof of the debt and written comfirmation of the payment plan terms and conditions. Mr. Winters turned nasty!!! Demanded money be sent that day by Western Union or else. Never said what "else" was. I also called them (she gave them permision to speak with me), he was rude and nasty to me, tried to get my bank info and attempted to extort money from me and then finally said I was not allowed to call them any more because I was harrassing them. He would not tell me what they were going to do if the money was not sent that day. What is the scoop on these guys? We were all set to comply and pay as agreed upon, then he turned nasty, rude and difficult. At this point, she has heard nothing further and they have not called my home again. We have also had other CA's calling her grandparents (my husbands' folks) trying to get info and being pretty open about the fact they are attempting to collect debts. Illegal? The fun one was when they tried to get info about my parents (both deceased) from my husbands' parents. I think this is a violation of the law
