With this kind of debt, it is best to go bankruptcy. To have this all cleared is worth your piece of mind.

INTENTIONALLY writing a bad check when you know you don't have the means to pay for it (CLOSED BANK ACCOUNT, etc,) would be considered a crime. THe amount of the check would determine whether it was a misdemeanor or a felony. First thing is to determine the statute of limitations on writing the bad check. The state has only a certain period of time to prosecute writing a bad check. If the statute of limitations has passed for writing a bad check (determine the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution by calling the AG of the state that it occurred in or reading up on felony statute of limitations in CA), then no they can't arrest you.
