Help with Citi

I am in FL and need advice. I have a cc with Citi, within SOL, which they forwarded to an out of state attorney (they thought I lived there, but I never have). I sent the validation/cease & desist lettter about two weeks ago. I want to try and settle w/OC. Based on the fact that the attorney told me (when they called me at work) that they were gonna file suit, I figured I'd better do something to handle this. I don't think I can handle going to court (2 jobs, 2 children, no time off). Can anyone tell me how to go about working with them? Is this my best bet? I have a few other charge offs, but this one worries me. Its around 9K. Any help would be appreciated.
