Actually I was on a work crew during one of my brief stays and I was on a work release program during another. Being on a work crew doesn't accomidate for all your costs; only half. So instead of being billed $40 bucks a day, it's billed $20 bucks a day. On the work release program, they allow you to go to work as long as you are employed prior to being sentenced. In this situation, they take your room & board out of your paycheck - $140 a week everytime you get paid. So when you leave you don't have a bill. at that time I was making 2 rent payments - 1 to the jail & 1 to my landlord. Talk about being broke! The other time they did bill me prior to handing it over to the CA, however it's a joke. You get the bill like two days after being released and they want it paid in thirty days. Knowing you just got out of jail and don't have a job to pay them back. I did 45 days on the work crew & my bill was $900 due thirty days after I got out. After thirty days - they send it to the CA.
Anyway - thanks for your responses, sound like I am stuck. Although I have noticed a couple of accounts I had early on my CR are no longer on there. I think it's because of SOL. 6 yrs here in MI. If I wait long enough the others should get removed next year.
