You might consider telling the judge that you are trying to locate some information to support your case, and that you have decided to hire an attorney. Ask for a short continuance - a week or so- that will give you time to speak to some consumer attorneys and decide if you want their help.

If this is past the sol, a consumer attorney will not only get the case dismissed, but may be able to get you some money as well.

go to www.naca.net for attorneys in your area.

If, by chance, the other side does not show up, ask the judge to dismiss WITH prejudice. That means they can not refile the case.

Sometimes, the judge will let you know this option is available, and sometimes not.
