I'm being sued in TX by Citibank for about $9K. I go to court in a few days. When I looked at the cases filed in my county alone, there must have been hundreds of open cases concerning credit lenders sueing individuals. I got sick of sifting through them all after viewing about 50 or 60. The lawyer that is sueing me must have had several dozen complete and incomplete suits and he is not even a local lawyer (has an office nearly 600 miles away!).

I have responded to the summons, and the Plaintiff's lawyer has asked for a Summary Judgement which will probably be denied because of my response.

It probably differs in each county, but where I live I am required to attend a Pre-Trial. It's a minor waste of time where I will go and face a Judge with the Plaintiff's lawyer, and the Judge will determine whether to grant the Summary Judgement, Dismiss the case, or to set a trial date. If he sets a date, both the Plaintiff's lawyer and I will be given the choice to have a hearing at the banch (Judge only), or a jury trial. There is an additional fee for a jury trial which could be $25 to $100 depending on the court.

I will know more next week after the Pre-Trial and I will post to the board afterwards.
