Northland had the account. I requested validation in September. In late September Northland said they had sent the validation request to Sherman for investigation. I disputed with EQ. Sherman verifies the account and two days later sends me a letter saying they have the validation request and will get back to me when they have completed the investigation. I dispute again, and they verify AGAIN.

Today I get a letter from a lawyer saying THEY now have the account that Sherman claims I owe.

On the 6th January the ACA received my complaint about Sherman for verifying without validating and not putting the account in dispute etc etc..

I STILL have NOT received validation.

Do I wait till the ACA sends me a file number then fax them a copy of this letter as proof of continued collection activity??? SHERMAN/ALEGIS acknowledged my validation request then reassigned a new CA - its not like the CA said "we got your letter" then handed it back to the creditor who then reassigned it. The so called CREDITOR knew the account was in dispute!!!!! This has yet to show up on any other CRA's, only on EQ.... The letter states that the lawyer "Frederick Hanna & Associates" is representing Sherman regarding my dispute. What do I do?? Anyone know about this lawyer???? It says I should contact the office to resolve my dispute. Then gives the mini-miranda.....

I'm assuming this is either a "reassignment" or just a scare tactic to make me drop the dispute. An attorneys office what scare most people into payign I guess, but I know we paid several hundred dollars to Wolpoff and Abrahmson for the original debt and I want to make sure every penny is accounted for before I accept their claims of amount and owning the debt...
