I live in south carolina and I gave my car back to chrysler after my extended warranty found every loop hole to not pay. I was told to fix my car it would take 2,500 so I told them to go ahead and fix it. I still owed 16,000 on it and it only had 39,000 miles. when I went to pick up my car the chrysler service manager told me it would be 6,000. at that point I took my plates and everything out of my car and said it is all yours. I realize that this is not the finance company fault but neither was it mine. the finance company is trying to have me pay back 60cents on the dollar for my car and if I don't they say that they can garnish my income. can they garnish my income with out going to court first? and what is the best situation for me to be in? go to court or pay the 60 cents on the dollar which I do not have and it would take me forever to pay off. I had to get another car when all of this happened. what should I do?
thanks for your help, barbara
