Here's why filing complaints protects you. By doing you tell the CA you know your rights, will defend yourself by attacking CA trash via government resources, not to be trifled with. In manner of bullies they'll always make trouble for others but they won't soon mess with you.
Regardless of size of debt, the statute has run out, they cannot sue. Same as if you were in a car wreck, cops and insurers agree it's the other guy's fault. The statute runs out, you can't sue. Never mind you have medical bills, need surgery, lost wages. The statute has run. Same for criminals. Guy steals a car, all the evidence in the world is worthless if the cops wait until the statute runs out before charging him.
