www.lawdog.com has all the state requirements. He will tell you if they are required to be licensed and with which department of the state has the licensing requirements. You will have to look the licensing requirements up for that department and check to see if the collection agency is listed with the appropriate licensing agency. Sometimes it is done through the Secretary of State. Other times, there is no requirement for licensing for the state but the local towns will require licensing to collect in the state.
