I have read other posts about the 1099-C forms. I understand that if you prove you were insolvent when the form was issued, you don't have to show it as income. How do you prove you were insolvent? Is that a hard thing to do? Another CC question I have is if I had a CC BEFORE I was married, can the CC company or CA add my husbands name to the account and pursue him for payment? If I used my checking account to pay CC payments in the past, before I stopped paying, should I change banks now? It's been over a year and I never paid a CA by check or any other means. If I wanted to file bankruptcy, could I file on just MY debt since I created the debt before I was married? If it helps, I live in Texas. Thanks for answering!!
