for my 78 yr old mother. Tumor removed from her colon 2 weeks ago and it was discovered she has Stage IV Metastasis Liver Cancer. She lives in the state of South Dakota. Her only income is $1,100.00/mth Social Security. She doesn't own any real property but rents an apartment. Doesn't own or drive car since mid '70s. She owns no assets of any kind. The situation is her CC debt/$5,000.00 and a collection agency bill/$4,000.00. I want for my mother to move in with me so that she can pay a larger amount of her debt with her SS income but she is hard headed and doesn't/won't move from her apartment. (I live on the west coast). I think she is going to need the care of assisted living due to the side effects of chemo which she hasn't yet agreed to proceed with. My concern is that in her current situation she in no way will be able to payoff her total debt of $9,000.00. What will happen with CC debt and collection agency bill after mother passes on? Thank you in advance for any and all help.
