Why Chat has added information about 1099C on the website. Also go to www.irs.gov - go to forms section and type in 1099C and you will find the forms to file with your 1099C.

You must follow the directions and file the form. There are actually a few different exceptions, but insolvency is the most common.

Try your main library as there are publications put out by the irs on each of these topics that will help you go through the process.
