collectcorp lied to me??

I just paid off my capitol one card, it had been given to a collection agency. When I made the payment in full, they said on the phone it will be charged off tomorrow if you dont pay now. So I paid in full, and soon after checked my credit report and it has it listed as being charged off in January of '04 when I paid in December '03! I'm getting nowhere with trying to correct this, except transferred all over and out on hold forever. I disputed it w/ the CRA and it came back fast as staying on my credit report. What can I do??
