CC threating to look into what U own

Hi, and thanks for answering my questions!!
My mom recently received a letter from the collection dept. of a CC company. They told her that they were going to look into what she owned. More or less telling her that if she didn't pay the amount they were requesting they would take property she owned. Can a CC company or CA take property you own for not paying? Isn't a CC debt a unsecured debt (meaning the only way they can get money is by suing and having a judgement placed against you)?
My mom lives in Arkansas.
