A CA can not take anything without first obtaining a judgement. CAs lie and threaten, but your mom's chances of not be sued are good. Here is a link to exemptions (things they can't take if they get a judgement) or if your mom files bk. I had approximately 10 credit cards, and only one sued and that was very close to SOL. When was the last time your mom made a payment on this account.
Somebody let me know if I am wrong, my understanding is that judgement exemptions are the same as bk exemptions)
