Drive your car to used car lot, at lunch, offer the manager lunch if he writes-up an appraisal. Be sure to tell the manager why (don't let-em jerk you around, walk if they try and sell), will be the best 8-10 bucks you will ever spend.

If they say no, drive to the next lot.
