I am curious as to whether anyone might have some directional advice for me... I have just receieved a letter from a 3rd party attorney stating a search of courthouse records indicate a lawsuit has been filed against me and though the letter does not ref the creditor or acct. it does list Credigy Receivables. I contacted Credigy and though they have not heard of the law firm that contacted me, that a suit has been filed against me for a delinquent credit card. I want to pay the debt but cannot. Credigy said I can put 1/3 down then possibly work out payments, but I am conerned as they want to draft them from my acct. and I fear they will take any and all money I put into the acct. which will hurt my ability to make payments to others and have money to live on. balance is less than 5,000 and last payment on this acct was probably made in 1999. am I to expect a Sherrif to track me down and serve me with a summons? any thoughts? many thanks!
