SOL in Calif.

I have three different collection companies seeking payment from me from charged-off credit cards. The debits went delinquent in 1998/1999. I have never responded to any letters, and the debits have been sold many times, after the original charge-offs. They have never gone to court. I believe that the SOL in Calif. is 4 years, which would make these debits uncollectible. If this is true, I would like to send a letter to each of these collection companies to notify that I am aware of the SOL law. Is there some kind of form letter, or wording I should use, so as to sound absolute about this. I'd rather not come across as if I do not know what I am talking about.
Thank you for your help with this.
