Privacy Guard....still monitoring

Hi, This may seem silly but it is not sitting well with me.
I signed up for Privacy Guard and cancelled within a month. No problem. I still have the cancellation letter. That was back on 5/8/03. On 1/9/04 I get an email from Privacy Guard letting me know that there have been changes to my Equifax credit report. I don't like the idea that someone is still monitoring my reports with out my permission. I called and they missed my point saying "Hey your getting free service" But, I am not because the account is cancelled. Iamnotable to see the change without paying. I explanied all that. They did't seem to think it was a problem. Even if they made a mistake in the cancellation isn't this wrong. I would think that someone who is in the credit report monitoring business would understand and have checks and balances. Or maybe it is just away to recoup old buiness. Again, as far as I am concerned my permission to access my reports ended 5/8/03
Any thoughts?
