They will mark on the handling that mail was refused or could not be delivered. I had a certified mail sent to both my husband and my brother in law. I went in there and signed for my husband's but did not sign for my brother in laws. I told them that my brother in law does not live at my address and that I am not assuming responsibility for his mail. They put "mail refused". They will send you notices to have it picked up.
