Does CA's renew their efforts at the beginning of a new calender year or what?!?!?! I have a medical bill that originated in Jan '02 and was turned over to CA in late '02. I set up a payment plan with them and paid monthly. At that time their statement showed that my balance increased. When I called to question the balance I was told that they had "added" an account balance for one of my sons that had received care at the same clinic. I told them that my ex was responsible for that bill and requested they send me a breakdown of the two accounts. I received a statement from them with my son's name, my account number, the creditor's name, and the same combined total. I did not make another payment after that, which was Jul '03. I let the answering machine pick up calls. The CA started calling my mom in OH repeatedly telling her that she was getting a "disconnect" when she tried my number (not true) and that it was imparative that she get in touch with me and have me return her call. I finally told my mom to tell them she did NOT want them to call again, and they stopped calling. Yesterday I received a letter from an attorney trying to arrange a payment plan for the debt. It has the standard note at the bottom re 30 days to dispute this debt. I REALLY want to dispute this one because of them "adding" another family members bill to the account they had for me. My question is this, do I send them WHY CHATS validation/dispute letter to the attorney? I would like to get it back to the OC and get them to separate the two bills so I can finish paying mine and send my son's to my ex as court ordered. Is this the way I should go with this? Again, thanks for all you help!
