Just so you know...In 2002 I dealt with Scherr. I sent all the right letters and contacted my state A.G. I sent a letter to the Fl. bar assoc. also. Five months later he "turned" my case over to the law firm that oversees "Collect America." They went through the whole process again---even though Scherr had violated the law on so many counts. (The firm, P. Scott Lowery, did so again by ignorging the first set of lawbreaking by his associate.) They turned it over to arbitration/court. I had to hire a $2500 attorney to represent me (like I wasn't in debt enough--I had to borrow MORE!!!)...and I will still more than likely lose. Do you want to know why? Because all of us fighting about bad collection practices are too poor to fight the big guns. I contacted over twenty firms throughout the U.S. with PROOF (I had every letter/taped phone call/etc.)--and no one would take it on. If you can't fight--you pay. I have a "hands-down win situation" against Scherr and "Collect America/P.Scott Lowery Law Firm"--and I still lose because I don't have $50k to fight the battle.

I wrote the letters. No good. I contacted my legislature--they cannot do anything w/out legal representation on my behalf. I will probably lose---so prepare yourself if you are facing this company. I DID EVERYTHING "whychat" and "buddhibbs" said--and it doesn't make a bit of difference. Be prepared....I wasn't. I had the idea that THEY broke the law...so they would be punished..not me. I was wrong.

If you want any info./letters/advice...let me know. (Even EdCombs said I'll lose....no one can fight them...)
