What if I live in one state but the crediter is from another

I had my car repossessed in 1/2000 The last payment I made was in may of 99. I live in Oklahoma and the creditor was put of another state. Which SOL applies the state of the creditor or the state where I bought the vehicle. The debt has been sold and i have been threatened by a law firm that has the debt now. They are threatening to sue. What do I do?
