I should have also mentioned to a degree that Why chat is right with a soft letter if the SOL hasn't expired. Some Collection Agencies could get a little irritated and sue in return if you send a direct to the point type letter. How soon will until SOL has expired in your case? If this is a new debt, I would definitely write like Why Chat suggested "Please feel free to write me, and I will definitely reply". That shows cooperation on your part and will lesson the tension between the two parties.
My mistake was I didn't realize the SOL hadn't expired. When the SOL expires, you would want to send the type I wrote for clients.
