Well I might as well get my $.02 in on this one because I CAN give you the "other view". (For those that don't know, I am a CA (Owner)(small but did o.k.).
In Ga. once you have judgment you get 12% interest. It is good for 7 yrs. and is renewable. It cost $52.00 to file and have served. I handle small claims stuff (usually under 2000.00) but up to 15,000.00. I get my expenses (filing fees, garnishment fees ect...) first off of any amt. collected. Then 30% of all monies collected on the face amt. of the debt. The interest is MINE!
A $52.00 investment on a 2000.00 judgment @ 12%... well you do the math.
I ALWAYS did my research (assets, work history, other debts ect...) and from National Stats. people in the top 10% and bottom 10% of income earners don't move much but the other 80% do! I would be willing to bet that most the people that are here now that are in a dire position now will be doing very well in 5 yers. and a whole lot of folks that are doing well now will be here on this board looking for answers.
Contrary to what most on here believe, this is not a "quick buck now" (it is to the guy on the phone) it is a LONG term business plan. I get calls on a regular basis from closing Attys. wanting payoff on lien. BTW: Bk in Ga. does NOT remove a lien. I was a S.O.B. for what I did in SOME cases, but I am (was) good at what what I do (did).
As "Jake" in Lonesome Dove said:"I hope you don't hold it against me boys".
Jeff
