I was in the same boat as you, laid off for a year. I had to walk away from cc debt. All other bills(mortgage, car, utilities were current). I went back to work a few months ago. In the meantime I have been sued. Nobody had ever called my job until yesterday. Guess how they found me? They stalked me. They were parked near my house and they watched our comings and goings every day for 2 weeks. Neighbors said they saw the same car parked between 6:60-7:00 am every morning. So obviously they saw the school bus pick the kids up at 7:00, and me going to work shortly thereafter. They served the summons to my son at 7:00 figuring I would answer the door.(I wasn't there that day).When he described the goon and his car to me, it clicked. I saw the car parked outside my job, and when I was dropped off at work, I saw it go around the corner. I only noticed it because a friend of mine has the same car(older model) and I thought it was him. The lawyers are Upton, Cohen & Slamowitz. I am in NY. I have turned the summons over to a lawyer, and I will be filing Chap 13.
