Hello all,

I have fallen behind my credit card debt, due to a layoff. I now have a new job and have moved to another state. My plan is to lie low, and wait out the SOL. All my cards are charged off.

I have tried to make sure that my change of address and my new job was not known to my creditors. However, in the holiday season I made a stupid mistake. I was at a department store, and the saleswoman asked me if I was interested in a store card, and that I could get it immediately. I was mot interested in the credit, but in the 20% discount on my purchase that came with it. I specifically asked if there would be a credit check, and she said no. So I went ahead and gave my information, and her computer came back saying that it has not been approved, and I'll have to wait seven - ten days. Then of course, I followed up, and found out that she was clueless, and the store manager told me that there is no way to retract the application.

I pulled up my credit card recently, about two months after the application, and see an inquiry from the bank affiliated to that store. However, my current address and employer, does NOT show the latest information that I provided.

My question is whether banks have to report the latest information only on people who are given credit, or for all people who apply? Was I just lucky that it did not show up? Most important, is my current information actually with the CRA, but I am not seeing it on my report? If so, is there a way that my creditors could see that information without me being aware?

Thank you.
