2 CA collecting on 1 Account

I have a FCNB account that has been in default since 10/02. I have recently received two collection leters from 2 different CA's. Both contain the same account number. However, I had different addresses and different amounts that each were trying to collect. I want to know should I send validation letters to both of these CA's. If one tries to sue will it not help my case to show that the debt had been validated with two different amounts. They also have my name wrong. I know FCNB owned the original account and it is mine. I also would like to know what does it mean if a CC re-ages your account. Thanks...
