Glad to hear from you. I don't have all the answers, but I am sure there will be other posters that will answer your post. I did read the whole post.
If sued, the judge will look at the laws. In your case, maybe he will smile on you a little. I sure do smile on you. You can ask for validation. You can look at the possibility of a SOL defense. You can file bk. You are very smart to have educated yourself. Keep reading this forum and you will learn a lot, and you can seek advice as needed. It is true that the larger the bill, the more likely to sue, but there are people who are sued for very little. What CAs are looking at is your assets. Your home is protected, as you probably already know. Nobody is interested in your furntire, electronics and so forth. You are right to protect your necessities of life. My advice is to ignore CAs. Chances are good that you will not be sued. I had about 10 cards, and only one did sue me. That was very close to SOL. If you ignore CAs they will likely move onto easier prey. CAs lie, threaten and work on your emotions. Don't let them stress you out. Let your machine pick up, watch your caller ID. I really would suggest bk. Bankrupcy is a fresh start, and you deserve just that. Good Luck
