If you both have been able to beat the BIG C-- a few collection agents are child's play.

Florida has VERY liberal exemptions for both judgments and BK. You home is COMPLETELY exempt from lien, your wages are completely exempt from garnishment, as you are "head of household"

Your payment to CCCS may be "current" but they do not seem to be doing you much good if your balances are not going down very much and one or more creditors have turned you over to collection agencies.

Your first step should be to get individual copies of your and your wife's credit reports from all 3 CRA's. Have them mailed to you as the snail mail versions include much more data.

Then, you need to see what the REAL status is of the accounts you believe you are "current" on with CCCS.

Florida has a 4 year SOL (statute of limitations) for credit card debts. This starts from the last payment made to the ORIGINAL creditor directly while the account was in good standing.

IF your credit reports show any accounts as having been charged off by the original creditor prior to JUNE 2000,(chargeoffs are 6 months after first default) that account is beyond the legal time for a lawsuit.

On THOSE accounts, you should stop making any payments to anyone and send them the SOL letter from my website.

BEFORE you do anything at all you should opt out to avoid future problems from collection agency scavengers.
