Someone else with the same troubles as you stated this:

I think it depends on the payday advance company you are with. We are with one called 1st Class. They call 3 times everyday. We stopped payment on my husband's loan advance and yesterday, we received a letter from them that they plan to file "an adversay complaint" which I guess is a lawsuit within our chapter 13. That means that if they do that we have to hire our attorney to represent us in this lawsuit. (more money for them). He told us that they could claim fraud because we stopped payment on the checks instead of letting them bounce. This stop payment apparently signaled to all that we had no intention of honoring our contract with them. Bouncing the check, our lawyer said, he could argue that we just didn't have the funds to pay them. etc. We only owe 600.00 and our lawyer indicated that he highly doubted that they would actually file an adversary on that amount, but you never know. Best bet, ask your lawyer before you bounce or stop payment.
