Arbitration = automatic judgment or not? Court?

I called a loudmouthed "credit attorney" who was supposed to be on my side and he claimed that if my credit card company wins an arbitration award against me then there WILL BE no court date but that the creditor's attorneys in my state (CA) will simply take the arb award to the judge and have him sign it and they'll win with no court date. Please note that the loudmouth attorney is in another state on the other side of the country.

Can they do this or do I ALWAYS have the right to go to court. This guy claimed that when I signed the credit card agreement I was basically waiving my rights for court and would consider the arbitration award binding. He casually (and almost hopefully!) stated that the next thing I would see is cops at my door ready to take my assets and my bank accounts would be frozen with NO OTHER WARNING from anyone. This sounds like pure bull to me and that my so-called attorney from another state smoked way too much weed both in college and for breakfast.

Can someone please tell me if I will or will NOT be getting a summons as the next step? I've never heard of a judgment without court. Sounds proposterous.

Thanks -- STARBANDER
