IF YOUR'RE AN authorized used on a credit card does it hurt or help your credit

would being an authorized user on a credit card help me to get more credit my credit at equifax has nothing on it. i have a totaly clean record with equifax nothing on it thought authorized user might help me get more credit cards using just my name
