I had used my mothers American Experss card with her complete consent and authorization. Then my father got sick with cancer and eventually passed away.We both experienced some financial difficulty during this time and even though I had been making minimum payments on this account up to this time-during this time I made two small payments and then had to skip January altogether because of a light pay check, due to so much time I spent at the hospital. We recently got a threathening phone call from a lady saying she was from American Express and that they were going to file fraud charges against me. My mother told her that she had knowledge that I had used to her card and it was with her consent and she didn't understand why they were threatening me when I had been making payments all along until just recently and was going to start making regular payments again. Well I called the number that I was given this morning and it turns out this is NCO calling not American Express. When I told them the story they told me that they "conducted an asset search on my mother" and found out that she had valuable property regardless of our ability to pay and that they would accept no less then full payment at this time, they wouldn't even come up with a payment plan for me. The guy kind of hesitated around the fraud accusation-now that I know it is NCO-I smell something very fishy. Any suggestions out there on how to handle this- I am more then willing to make payments but I am familar with these scumbags and don't want to get taken, neither one of us can pay this in full without taking another loan, which is what I think he was hinting at with the valuable property thing. He also made some very untrue statements about my mothers credit-saying it was impeccable until I started using her card, which I know isn't true because I know they had some financial trouble a few years ago,so I am very leary about anything this guy says. Please Help!!!
