Hi, they are more likely to assign and/or sell your accounts to CAs. I can offer my strategy and it worked well. I ignored CAs most of the time. I actually put my phone on fax during the worst of it. If these are individual accounts, I don't believe your husband can be held liable, but hopefully someone else will be more sure. I am just about certain that CAs will tell you that your husband is responsible. Don't let CAs threaten you. There is a lot of psychology in debt collection, they play on your emotions, that is one of the reasons why it is best not to talk to them at all. If you want to consider debt negoiation, then now is the time to do it, before the debts are passed onto CAs. Remember though, if a creditor forgives a debt than you could receive a 1099 from the IRS. Since your husband does have job and assets, I really don't know how that would play out. Keep reading this board. Educate yourself as much as possible.
