As far as I know, the SOL in Calif is 4 years. So, if you can lay low for another year or so you will have a SOL defense. Otherwise, if you are sued, you can ask for validation. They usually can't validate. (you don't remember that debt or that it was so much). I filed chapter 7 after I was served, before they got a judgement. NEVER IGNORE A SUMMONS/ APPEAR OR ANSWER. Of course my credit was ruined and I will have a bk on my credit report for 10 years. That was the alternative to paying a CA almost 10,000. I am near retirement age, so the credit issue for me is very limited. it is said that you can start to rebuild credit about two years after bk.
