I signed up with Liberty Debt Management a couple of months ago (in Dec.) to resolve my credit card headaches, I mean debts. They advise you before you sign up that they contact your creditors to notify them that Liberty is handling your cases. I was wondering if companies like this, ones that settle with credit card companies, are very reliable? I am wondering this because, and this is another thing they warned me about, I get calls from collection agencies, and I even got a letter from an attorneys office in my area that was retained by Discover Card to collect the debt or otherwise take legal action against me. Are the people that work at companies like Liberty bar-certified attorneys? Can my car be repossessed while Liberty is settling? I looked up Liberty in the Better Business Bureau before I signed up with them, and they had no complaints, but did I (and I swear this is the LAST question for this post:) make a fatal mistake by committing to Liberty? They seemed pretty legit to me when I signed up, but then again, some people are good scam artists...
