By the way you have worded your letter it sounds like you are past the SOL (statute of limitations)which means for successful lawsuits against you on these debts.


SOL limitations are 4 years in PA (from the date you became first became delinquent on the debts and NEVER caught up.
If I get this correct you have never gotten "current" on the debts as you stated your son was ten at the time and now he is twenty.

Your post is very confusing you stated your husband died "several" years ago when your son was ten and then you stated your son is now twenty. That is ten years ago.
What year exactly did you fall behind on those credit cards and never caught up again?

Order all three of your credit reports and have a look, this will give you a good idea how old these charge off debts are.
Equifax
Experian
Trans Union

Do not tell your son anything there is no point after all of these years.
