Catballou, I am in the same boat with you. Very ill daughter, born with liver diease. Add that to both of our job loss (long term (13yrs.) employment vs. new hire) and now one of us has to be here 24/7 to care for medical needs of daughter, we went from 90k to 24k in 3 months. We were living within our means but it took EVERYTHING away. CC company compounded the problem with higher interest late charges ect... that we stoped paying because we were LOSING ground with EVERY small payment. Other credit holders stopped interest and worked with us and are now paid off or VERY close to being paid off.
I am also a CA (owner) and I now WORK with debtors and help them to get things worked out. I keep seeing the same thing happen to them that happened to me. One or two FORCE you into BK and then everyone is included.
I just today received a $10.00 payment on a $187.00 account from a lady that I worked with that I have come to know in the last few weeks and she is becoming a FRIEND! We have shared stories and I got to know her situtation and we were able to work out a plan that SHE could do. Unlike the CC with me, the min. payment got larger and larger and now it is with W&A and they want even MORE per month!!!(ha!)
Yor have your priorties(sp) straight! Food, medical, power, ect... let the BLOOD SUCKERS SPIT INTO THE WIND!!!!
Sorry for going "off" like this but at least I feel a little better. My health has been taken a beating over this and I just needed to "vent".
