Kurt, the reason we have "plastic money" as you call it instead of paper money is quite simple & not a government conspiracy, it's the same reason we now drive cars instead of riding horses, why we can fly to California from New York in hours instead of spending days on a train, why diseases that killed years ago are now treatable or curable, why I can talk to you right now without having met you....TECHNOLOGY. & the same technology you're bitching about "taking away our paper money" is the same technology that's allowing us to have this discussion on a message board & not through the US mail....

It's just that simple. Using "plastic" is more convenient, safer & manageable than paying for everything with $$$ & it's not a conspiracy by the banking industry or government....yes they make $$ on it, some charge outrageous fees, but last time I checked this is a capitalistic society & that's what people do, don't like it, don't do business with them..... & if the majority of the American public didn't think so as well it would not have become popular & a way of life. Could you tell me when we've ever been FORCED to use it? Do you want to mail cash to your cable company each month? Do you want to go by a car & have to bring $20,000 with you in your pocket? You want to carry $5000 with you to the store to buy that big TV? Depending on the time of day & the neighborhood you live in, you want to have $200 in your pocket to buy groceries at the store on just a personal safety level??? The truth is people like technology & how it makes their lives easier....& MANY Americans are extremely lazy & enjoy the fact that they can grab that 99 cent cheeseburger & put it on the card instead of making that extra stop for cash, be it at a bank, an ATM or the safe stuffed with cash in their bedroom....if someone wants that cheeseburger NOW then someone else will create the technology for them to get it NOW. Capitalism buddy, not a government conspiracy.
