Yes, she should file an answer with the Ill. Court stating she is not a resident of Ill. and requesting a change of venue.

Was she served the papers in Co.? If so, she can respond with the data on the service. If not, she can file an objection to the claim as not having been legally served.

Of course, it is always possible that the whole thing is a CA scam, and there is nothing actually filed in any Court.

If they DID get a judgment against her in Ill. they would have to domesticate it in Colorado, which might be difficult, as she could then contest it.
