Exemption information wrong and misleading

Two attorneys have told me I can only file state exemptions in SC. I think the information on exemption websites is misleading. It seems that I am allowed CERTAIN federal exemptions to supplement the state exemptions. The website below explains. Please tell me if I am wrong.
