There are those supplemental Federal exemptions you can use, but as you can see by that list, they are very specific in nature and only apply to a small group. SC does not allow application of the main Federal Exemptions, you are limited to SC laws only plus the supplemental Federal.

In the future, it is much better to have things like cash, in the forms of bonds or anything else, put in a TRUST of some sort. This keeps them away from creditors and bankrutpcy Trustee's alike.
