I personally would see them in court - how close is your court date. Its not like they are offering you any better 'savings' that they would if you talked to them before being sued. They ramble on and on about only being able to discount 35% EVEN though they buy the debt for PENNIES on the dollar, then tack on interest to boot.

If you hadn't had any other communication with them prior to the summons to court, then they are figuring that you will see a settlement for 65% of the balance as a good deal to just make them go away. Its unlikely that they have any proof from the OC. They are playing their own twisted version of 'bad cop/good cop'. Hopefully some of the more experience people will help you out. If I were in your position, I would fire off a letter stating that the statute of limitations for their cause of action has expired AND they have yet to show proof that I owe this ALLEGED debt.

Maybe post your question at the CreitBoards register (free) - go to forums ---> credit forums and post your question.

Good luck!
