First of all, open the door. If they can't serve you at home, they might do it someplace else. Not opening the door is not going to change anything. When was the last time you made a payment to the original creditor before it became deliquent. You could possibly have a SOL defense. Otherwise, you ask for validation. There is a good chance that the CA can't validate. Your homestead exemption is 15,000 in a chapter 7. http://www.bankruptcyaction.com/moexemptions.htm
Get your credit report, look for date of last activity (if you never paid a CA) and don't forget, partial payments don't count. You are looking for when the account was last current, in good standing. YES YOU CAN FILE CHAPTER 13, and keep your house. BUT, I'D BE LOOKING AT THAT SOL AND ASKING FOR VALIDATION. I would also recommend that you get an attorney, first consult usually is free, and maybe parents can loan you money for the attorney. www.naca.net Don't know if Unifund is licensed in Missouri.
