Andrea, do not overlook contacking your local city govt. and make inquiries as to any programs for someone in your position. A lot of cities and county govts have programs to promote home ownership. Also sometimes local lending institutions have programs in conjunction with the the city and county govt programs. I know that you want your daughter to be in the same school system she is in, so look into open enrolement possibilities, if you should happen to find a home in the city and say your daughters school district is in the county or township.
Work the phone hard. see what is available.
Almost all local govts get federal monies to promote home ownership. It's out ther go find it.
