Unfortunately when you are in collections you will be called by a lot of different people. Especially if your account has not been assigned to one person in the office of the collection agency that is handling your account.
If you do want to repay:
In my opinion you are better off to try to have a collector put your account into their chain of accounts so only they will call you. This will prevent daily calls from the same office to you on the same account.
Simply by telling the collector (if you really mean this) that you are willing to re pay your debt and try to work with them should be sufficient.
I am a collector that works with people for the long haul. If you tell me you want to re pay your debt, I will work with you for months to find a resolution to this. I have accounts in my chain that I have had for months but I call every fifteen days to check in with you. If your situation changes and we can find a suitable re payment arrangement we will do this. I find that most people eventually have their situation change and they can either settle or start a monthly payment plan.
In my opinion, if you really want to re pay the best thing to do is to work with the collector. I know a lot of people on this board think it is best to ignore and evade the collectors. That is fine if you really know that you have no interest in re paying your debts.
I have noticed recently a lot more people writing in to this board about potential law suits. I do know that you put yourself at a higher risk for this by avoiding your debts. A lot of people on this board would disagree with that but I am only basing my opinion on what I have been reading lately.

Perhaps I am a bit different from a lot of collectors, I do work with people and I do not make peoples lives miserable. I have noticed that my office is looking very seriously at my style of collections and I have now promoted me to a higher position within my company. Patience, kindness and empathy does go a long way.
I am hoping the future will be more bright and bill collection will become more customer service orientated.
