I know someone who does this. They go through the court files and find cases that have been filed. Then they offer to try to resolve it out of court for a percentage of the alleged debt.

Example: alleged debt is 10,000

They get it settled for 4,000

You pay the 4000 and then pay them a percentage of what you saved - the 6000.

Should you do it? Your call, really, Most people being sued either can not pay or just never planned to pay,
